Answers to Commonly Asked Questions About Haven Elementary Media Center


Q. When is the media center open?
A. It's open whenever school is in session, from  7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.

Q. How many books may be checked out at a time?
A. Pre-k and kindergarten students borrow one book at a time. Students in grades 1-5
     check out up to two books at a time.

Q. What's the lending period for books?
A. Books are checked out for two weeks.

Q. May books be renewed?
A. Yes, once.

Q. May parents check out books?
A. Certainly! Parents may check out up to two books at a time.

Q. What happens if a book is overdue?
A. Until the book is returned, no other books may be checked out.

Q. What happens if a book is lost?
A. You must pay for lost books.

Q. Can parents help out at the library?
A. Absolutely! Email us to volunteer, roxyaw@uga.edu.

Q. Can students help out at the library?
A. Yes, indeed! Students in grades 4 and 5 may apply to be student media aides.


Questions Teachers Ask Us
Q. May I sign out reference materials?
A. Most may be borrowed for up to 3 days. Some may be borrowed for the
     duration of the unit of study.

Q. How do I get you to play a video for my class?
A. Teachers write video requests in our daily media log, which is kept at the
     circulation desk. We are happy to suggest titles.

Q. How do I borrow equipment?
A. Reserve what you need via the equipment log, located on the circulation desk.

Q. Is assistive technology available for special needs?
A. The media center resources and technology are made available to everyone.
     Modifications can be arranged; tell us about the need.

Q. Can I get extra help with resources for a particular project or unit of study?
A. We LOVE collaborating with you on special projects and units!
